Deterring pest birds using birds of prey is a natural method of bird control as it utilises nature’s instincts. Sometimes bird proofing isn’t an option. A building may be listed, or the size of the building could make proofing impractical. You may have nuisance birds in a wide-open area, such as a landfill or farmland, where proofing is just not a viable bird control solution. Our bird control teams will be able to determine whether falconry will be an effective recommendation for your site when we complete a site survey.

Nuisance birds, such as seagulls and pigeons, recognise these natural predators and will avoid conflict with hawks and falcons. A specially designed program of falconry, designed by our experts, will exploit this forcing them to change often long habituated behaviours, meaning they will choose somewhere else to nest, roost or feed.
Our bird control teams have nearly 30 years of experience of using birds of prey as a natural pest bird control solution. Our skills are so recognised that we have worked on projects supporting scientists from OPRED, Natural England and Bird Strike. Our experts can advise when and where this service will be effective, as all our bird of prey operatives are fully trained and experienced in using hawks and falcons. We operate nationwide in urban and rural areas, check out our case studies to see how we have solved our customers pest problems using hawking and falconry.

We are always proud of our high standards and love our client feedback.
“NBC Environment has been working under contract for the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) for over 4 years, and I would recommend their services.
NBC have provided us with a good level of service in relation to bird control on our sites and have helped to reduce the amount of Pigeon and Seagulls nesting/resting on the sites. We have calculated that in the first year of the contract over 4 tons of pigeon mess was removed from the roof areas and court yards because of NBC controlling the amount of bird resting in these areas.
I have always found NBC to be flexible to our site and have worked with the UHS to provide around the clock service when needed to have certain activities done to suit site needs.
In the last couple of years, we have invited NBC to attend up our hospital open day to show the public what we our doing and what they can do for us regarding supporting these activities. This has helped the public to understand what we have achieved and how working in partnership with NBC has assisted us in keeping a clean hospital environment. ”

“I am very happy with the way that your company has dealt with our pest problems so far. To date everything you said you would do has considerably reduced the problem and the tenants although wary at the start are now saying that they are glad we have this in place.
One thing in particular is that when Dan comes on site to do his business quite a few people come up to him and are interested in what he’s doing and of course the lovely Hawks take centre stage!”
Gull Problem on Industrial Estate
Site Manager, Lansdown Industrial Estate
“Historically we have had pest issues in the past, rats, mice, pigeons and Gulls and most recently Canadian Geese. Our previous supplier wasn’t getting quick results so we contacted NBC Environment on the back of some recommendations. Over the past 12 months NBC have done a fantastic job with rodent riddance programs and also a safe removal of the Canadian geese. We are very happy with NBC and we have just resigned for another 12 months. Craig Bickerstaffe our main point of contact is very professional and I cannot fault his service especially with the current situation with Covid-19. We will continue to be a customer with NBC”

The operatives that visited site and completed the work were very knowledgeable, and helpful. Look forward to working with NBC again.”

“We first approached NBC in 2015 as a large colony of gulls had taken residence on our roof. These gulls were causing a health and safety issue by dive bombing drivers, defecating over vehicles and sometimes members of staff.
NBC came in and recommended a bird control programme. This has been in place for 5 years and we have seen a dramatic reduction in numbers with the colony now being pushed away into the surrounding area – this has been a great investment for our company. NBC’s staff have always been knowledgeable, helpful and highly skilled when carrying out their work – I would strongly recommend them to any business.”

“The UEA campus was designed so that virtually no part of campus is more than a few minutes walk from anywhere else. As good as this is for students travelling between classes, it means many features of our distinctive University, such as the elevated walkways and concrete overhangs, are an attractive place for pigeons.
As we endeavour to make our campus accessible to all, it became clear that in a number of key areas the pigeon guano was a serious issue for our students and staff, particularly wheelchair users, and with the listed buildings on site we were restricted in what preventative measures we could take.
Luckily for us, NBC were able to deliver a humane solution which fit the needs of our site. With their consultants they were able to address the problems we faced and sensitivities from students and staff. As a result we have seen a significant reduction in the potential risks posed to our staff, students and visitors.”

“Since first being approached and engaging with NBC environment, they have worked closely with us to offer operational solutions to ensure the safe operation and maintenance of our assets. Once engaged and discussing the services, we began to fully appreciate the breadth and depth of support they could and would begin to offer us.
This ranged from temporary deterrent measures to physical barriers to prevent unwanted gulls nesting on sensitive equipment and protecting our workforce from being attacked whilst working at height. Their expertise and supportive approach have made them a valued partner ASCO Fuels and Lubricants, moving forward.”
